About Hostel
Wieliczka is an enchanting place attracting more than one million tourists every year.
This little town is located in the closest neighbourhood of Cracow (within a distance of 15-minute-drive from the city centre). Its highest popularity is mostly due to a famous salt mine situated within this area. The Salt Mine has been functioning continuously since the Medieval Times, which makes it the only object in the world operating for such a long time.
In 1978 it was placed in the First World Heritage List of UNESCO. Specific atmosphere of this place can be easily experienced by taking a walk over a three-kilometer-long route available for tourists, leading through a great number of ornamented chambers and caves.
However, attractions of Wieliczka are not necessarily to be found 200 m under the ground. The town offers plenty of other historical buildings worth seeing. Among others, the Salt-mine Castle or the Palace of Konopka should be mentioned. In the area of Wieliczka one can visit numerous historical churches dated to the times of Reformation.
Finally, tired with exhausting sightseeing one can simply take a seat in one of cafes or pubs in the Wieliczka Square, enjyoing the charm and stillness of this unique place.
